CamPow Camera Owner Policy
If you run a webcam, this page is for you
CamPow is a TV app that gives skiers, drivers, and mountain-town locals a channel guide of live public cameras. If your camera is listed on CamPow, it's because you've published it for the public to watch and we think people would like to check it from the couch. This page explains exactly what we do with your camera, what we don't, what you get out of it, and how to be removed or featured. Removal takes one click and no explanation.
What CamPow does with your camera
We point TVs at your existing public feed. That's it.
- When a viewer tunes to your camera, their TV loads the video directly from your servers, using the same public URL or embed you already publish. CamPow's servers are never in the path. Every view is a direct connection to you, just like a visit to your website.
- Your name and website are shown in the guide listing, on screen when someone tunes in, and anytime from the channel's info panel. If you have a required attribution line, we use it verbatim.
- We show your feed exactly as you publish it — same framing, same watermark, same logo, same timestamp. We don't crop, overlay, or brand it as ours.
- No ads on or around your video.
What CamPow does not do
- We don't copy, cache, record, or archive your stream. There is no replay, rewind, clip, download, or "last 24 hours" feature, and no server-side storage of frames. The only buffering is a short playback buffer of no more than [30] seconds, held in memory on the viewer's device and discarded the moment they change channels.
- We don't re-host, proxy, transcode, or restream. We never serve your video from our infrastructure or a CDN.
- We don't analyze the video. No computer vision, no face or plate recognition, no motion detection, nothing.
- We don't work around technical restrictions. If your feed requires a login, a token, a paid plan, or blocks embedding, we don't list it. If you block embedding after we've listed you, we treat that as a removal request.
- We don't claim you sponsor or endorse CamPow unless we've signed an agreement with you.
What you get
- Audience. Viewers who wouldn't have found your site see your camera on their TV, with your name attached, and can visit your site from the channel's info panel.
- Attribution and a link-out, in the guide listing, on screen when someone tunes in, and anytime from the info panel.
- Zero cost, zero obligation. You don't have to do anything, and you can leave anytime.
One honest note: because every view is a direct request to your server, a popular camera will see more traffic from CamPow viewers. If that's a concern for your bandwidth, tell us — we can cap how prominently your camera appears, or remove it.
How we choose cameras
We list cameras that are published for public viewing without a login or fee, that show public places (roads, slopes, town centers, waterfronts), and that we can load without circumventing any restriction. Where an operator publishes open-data or reuse terms (as many transportation agencies do), we follow them. We don't list cameras that show private residences, schools, or places where people expect privacy.
If we've added your camera and you haven't heard from us yet, you likely will: we send a short notice to owners we can reach, explaining the above and linking to this page.
How to be removed
Go to campow.tv/exclude or email [exclude@campow.tv]. Tell us which camera. That's it.
- You don't need a reason, a legal notice, or a lawyer.
- We don't argue. We'll acknowledge within one business day and remove the camera within two (usually the same day).
- Verification is light. An email from your organization's domain, or from the contact listed on your camera's page, is enough. If we can't verify quickly, we remove the camera you named first and sort it out after.
- Tell us the scope. One camera, or all of yours? We'll default to just the one you named. If you ask us to remove all of your organization's cameras, we'll remove the one you named right away and send you a list of the rest; those come down once we've confirmed the request with an address at your organization (or after two business days with no objection), so a single spoofed email can't take down your whole presence.
- It stays off until you say otherwise. Cameras removed at your request go on a do-not-list record keyed to that specific camera — its address, any address it moves to, and its name and location — so a URL change or vendor migration won't bring it back, and your other cameras are not affected unless you ask us to remove them too. Only you can reinstate a camera you asked us to remove. (A camera removed under a formal copyright notice follows the separate restoration process in our Copyright Policy; if you want the certainty that only you control reinstatement, use this exclusion request rather than a copyright notice.)
What viewers see afterward. For a short period after removal, viewers who tune to that channel see a simple card saying the camera is no longer available on CamPow because its owner asked, with a link to your site so they can still watch it there. After that, the channel is gone from the guide. If you'd rather not be named on that card, or if your request involves a privacy or safety concern, tell us and we'll remove the channel silently.
How to be reinstated
Email us from the same address you used to be removed and say you'd like the camera back. We'll restore it, usually within a business day.
How to be featured
If you'd like top placement, your logo, a link-out to your site, and a heads-up when we notice your camera is offline, we offer a short, no-cost Partner Camera agreement (a one-page MOU). Email [partners@campow.tv].
Copyright notices
If you prefer a formal path, our Copyright Policy explains how to send a notice of claimed infringement to our designated agent, what it must contain, and how we process it. The Exclusion Request page is faster and requires no legal formalities; either path results in the camera coming off the guide.
Privacy concerns from people on camera
If you're not the owner but believe a camera on CamPow shows you, your home, or your property in a way that concerns you, use the Privacy Concern option on the Exclusion Request page. We review these promptly and can remove the camera from CamPow's guide. Because we don't operate the camera, we'll also point you to the owner so you can contact them directly.
